Environmental Policy STATA Impact Analysis
Comparative Impact Analysis of Cross-National Environmental Policy
Overview: Graduate Quantitative Methods Final Project. I conducted an analysis to test whether country-level governance characteristics (GDP and strength of law) had a statistically significant impact on environmental outcomes (gas emissions and air pollution), using global World Bank and United Nations environmental data.
What I did: To ensure accuracy in my analysis, I accounted for Gauss Markov assumptions and Omitted Variable Bias, and ran a series of robust bivariate and multivariate regression models.
Results: My results showed that, of all the governance characteristics tested, political stability had the greatest impact on negative environmental externalities. Through my analysis, I was able to identify the governance characteristics that have the greatest impact on environmental outcomes, which could help policymakers develop more effective strategies to address environmental challenges, particularily in developing countries.
