Demographic & Health Survey Project

DHS Trend Analysis

Overview: Graduate Quantitative Methods Coursework. I conducted an analysis of Demographic & Health Survey (DHS) data to identify trends in health and wellness measures across West Africa.

What I did: Using R as a foundation, I used a Left-Join to merge multiple DHS data sets on Infant Mortality, Economic Development, and Air Pollution into one Excel worksheet. Merging on Village Cluster_ID, I then cleaned the data and began trend analysis. I manipulated data using Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP to create Excel visualizations, including Box & Whisker Plots, Density Plots, Distributions Rates, etc.

Results: My analysis described a decreasing trends in infant mortality rates, while economic development, and air pollution saw increases. This observations provided insights into the key drivers of health and wellness in West Africa, further expanded upon within the course report.
